Your tax estimate will appear here
Enter annual income and the assumptions you want to compare.
How this simplified tax model works
The model subtracts deductions from income, estimates federal-style tax from the selected filing status, adds the entered state rate, subtracts credits, and reports the effective rate against gross income.
Taxable income first
Taxable income is max(income − deductions, 0). Credits do not reduce taxable income; they reduce the combined modeled tax afterward.
Current-law boundary
This page does not choose a tax year, state, local jurisdiction, W-4 details, or every deduction and credit. It is a comparison model, not filing guidance.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does this tax calculator estimate?
It estimates total annual tax and after-tax income from annual income, filing status, deductions, credits, and an entered state tax rate.
How are deductions used?
Deductions reduce annual income to modeled taxable income before the simplified federal-style and state tax estimates are applied.
How are credits used?
Credits are subtracted from the combined modeled federal-style and state tax, with total tax floored at zero.
Does this use current federal tax tables?
No. The page uses a simplified bracket-style model embedded in the calculator, so it is not a current filing engine and does not cover every tax provision or year.
Can I use this for filing or tax advice?
No. Use it for scenario planning only and verify current rules with official tax resources or a qualified professional.
