How this GPA estimate works

Each percentage maps to a fixed letter-grade point, the point is scaled to your selected maximum, and credit-weighted quality points are divided by total credits. Previous GPA is combined using previous credits when both are provided.

01

Credits carry weight

A 4-credit course affects the term result more than a 1-credit course with the same grade point.

02

School policies differ

The model does not include AP or IB boosts, honors weighting, grade replacement, plus-minus rules outside the reference table, or institutional rounding.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this GPA calculator work?

It maps each percentage to a fixed letter-grade point on a 4.0 reference table, scales that point to your selected GPA scale, and weights the points by course credits.

Can I calculate cumulative GPA?

Yes. Enter previous GPA and previous credits along with the current courses. Leaving those fields blank returns the term GPA as the cumulative estimate.

Which grading policy does it use?

It uses a simplified percentage-to-letter table and does not model a particular school's plus-minus, AP, IB, honors, repeat, or withdrawal policy.

Can I use a scale other than 4.0?

Yes. Choose 4.0, 4.3, or 5.0. The reference grade points are scaled proportionally to the selected maximum.

Does it store my grades?

No. The base calculation runs in your browser and does not require an account.
